Jerusalem, 22 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — In 2024/25 academic years degrees were awarded to 90,500 people who completed their studies at institutions of higher education in Israel, similar to the previous year (90,900). This is according to data released by Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics.

The share of STEM degree recipients (which have a high affinity for the technological and scientific labor market) among all degree recipients remained stable, as have the notable gaps between the various groups. The rate of degree recipients in these fields is lower among women, Arabs, Haredim, and people of Ethiopian descent.

For every one man who received a degree, there were almost two women who received a degree. Because the decline in the number of female degree recipients was less than the corresponding decline among men, their share among all degree recipients increased. However, their representation in STEM fields is lower, as mentioned.

One in six-degree recipients were Arabs.

5.8% of degree recipients were Haredi

1.2% of degree recipients were of Ethiopian descent. Although the number of degree recipients of Ethiopian descent increased by 6.8% compared to the previous year, their share among all degree recipients remained at 1.2%.

1.7% of degree recipients were Bedouin. Compared to the previous year, there was a significant decrease in the number of Bedouin degree recipients (of 13.0%, compared to a decrease of 0.3% in the rest of the population), and therefore their share among all degree recipients decreased (from 2.0% to 1.7%).
