Jerusalem, 17 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security will support pasture-raised cattle farmers in the North of the country with approximately 50 million Shekels ($34 million).

The Ministry said this is a large-scale move for the growers, many of whom operate in the conflict zone areas in the north of the country and that the move will “strengthen the protection of open areas, help reduce the risk of fires, and contribute to strengthening agricultural and national resilience.”

Grazing of animals is a significant tool in the management and protection of open spaces. It helps reduce the chances of fires by reducing the amount of fuel available in the area, contributes to the conservation of soil and biodiversity, and helps prevent unauthorized takeover of state lands. In addition, the procedure is intended to provide a safety net for farmers and breeders operating in these areas, who are faced with conditions of uncertainty and fluctuations in income.

Under the procedure, holders or owners of grazing beef cattle herds, as well as holders or owners of grazing horse, buffalo and deer herds, will be eligible to submit applications for support. Support will be provided in accordance with professional criteria and based on the extent of grazing areas and the size of the herd.
