Jerusalem, 11 June, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Tel Aviv District Committee decided to approve a large-scale urban renewal plan called “The Rectangle” in Or Yehuda, located just east of Tel Aviv. The plan includes 711 new housing units to be built in 15 new residential buildings of 8 to 15 floors, alongside public and commercial spaces.
Of the total housing units, approximately 142 will be allocated for small apartments, with the aim of creating a diverse mix of apartments in the area. The new residential buildings will be built in place of a precast market and old residential buildings and housing estates, which include 150 housing units.
This is a plan to evacuate and build on an area of approximately 7 acres in the old neighborhood of Kiryat Giora, which is located in a central location in the city, in the area of Ha’atzmaut, Yosef Haim, David Elazar and the market streets.
Many plans for evacuation and construction and renewal are being promoted in the neighborhood, some of which have already been approved. A “fast to the city” public transportation route is planned on Ha’atzmaut Street that will provide a transportation solution and serve the residents of the neighborhood and the region.
